"“The lamp of the body is the eye; therefore if the eye is good, the whole body will be full of light"

Krissy Gordon received her first standing ovation at age 7 after singing a solo rendition of “Tomorrow” from the broadway musical, Annie, in front of a crowd of parents, faculty and students at Dean S. Luce elementary school in a little town south of Boston called Canton, Massachusetts,. At the age of 8, Krissy Gordon wrote her first song. Yet, even though Krissy had a passion for singing and writing music, she feared the “public eye” and didn’t like the attention…although always positive. So, she avoided the spotlight at all cost and stopped writing altogether. But, 18 years later as Krissy was riding on a bus to Boston and praying and reflecting on Christ’s selfless, redemptive work on the cross, Krissy was inspired to write her first Contemporary Christian song, The Answer. This began the release of her creative block and many subsequent songs began to emerge. Still, Krissy allowed fear, doubt and insecurity to paralyze her and much like the parable of the talents, she was content to “bury” this gift deep inside of her.

Krissy grew up in church and was taught about God since an early age, but had never developed a personal relationship with Him. She explains, “I loved the Lord, but wasn’t really in love with Him, and there is a distinct difference.” However, Krissy had a “spiritual awakening” in 2002 that caused her to recommit herself to Christ and to pursue after His will for her life. “Once I told the Lord that I would go anywhere and do whatever He wanted me to, He began to show me that He wanted me to use the songs and voice He had given me to spread His message to the world. This was the last thing that I thought I would or could ever do. But, He showed me that it is “not by power or by might but by His Spirit, that I am just the vessel…the means to carry His message and to bring glory to His Kingdom”. “The gift was not meant for “me”, but was given so that I could bless other people and bring glory to His name”.

Remembering God’s Word and standing on His promises. Krissy stepped out in faith and began leading worship at church. She immediately saw how God was using her to minister to and bless others. “The more I stepped aside and let the Lord take over, the more I saw “His strength made perfect in my weakness.” Next, the Lord began to call Krissy out of her “comfort zone”, to Charlotte, North Carolina. Shortly thereafter, Krissy was presented with many new ministry opportunities. She was picked to sing “The National Anthem” during several seasons of the Charlotte Knights baseball games, which helped her gain experience and exposure in public venues. She also began ministering, with a group of women, in the local community, to the homeless, needy, widowed, hungry and lost. As her faith and trust in Him increased, her desire to evangelize and share the gospel with the world grew stronger and stronger.

“The lamp of the body is the eye; therefore if the eye is good, the whole body will be full of light.” (Matt 6:22) The good eye looks for the will of God that the body may be filled with the presence of God, who is light, and it places greatest value on things that cannot pass away. The evil eye is full of darkness and looks for things of the world. This has been the theme for “WINDOWS TO THE SOUL”, Krissy Gordon’s debut album, a 5-song EP of Contemporary Christian pop songs, flavored with note-worthy hints of R & B, soul, funk and gospel. With love and thanksgiving to God for His saving grace and transforming power, these songs were birthed in Krissy Gordon’s heart. Krissy’s lyrics compel people to deep dig within their souls and to seek the meaning and purpose of their lives. The message of Krissy’s music is beautifully and contemporaneously communicated as the light of God radiates from her and penetrates into the deepest part of mankind’s soul -- compelling them to make a decision that will ultimately affect the outcome of their destiny.

We can live in the world but not be part of it. This is a journey not a destination. We can choose to go along for the ride or we can take a stand and pursue the things of God that He has pre-ordained and pre-destined for each of us. Krissy continues to soar on her journey, taking the Lord by the hand and following Him as He leads her to new heights, new depths and new horizons. “It’s exciting to see what the Lord has in store for me next. May my eyes always be opened to see His truth, my ears always open to hear His voice, and may my mouth always profess the love of God, which is in Jesus Christ, our Lord.”
