I don't play "Christian Music." I'm just a Christian who plays music. As Rob Bell says, 'Christian' is a great noun and a terrible adjective. I'm not that sophisticated about my faith - I keep it simple: Jesus said I should love God with all my heart, and that we should love one another. Well OK. I'm going to try my best. My music is sometimes fun and playful, and other times sad or even dark. The thing is, being a Christian doesn't mean being happy all the time. In fact, sometimes it can lead us to say goodbye to things that were precious to us. Sometimes we get sad, or lost, or lonely. Being a Christian just means we trust God to know what's best in our lives. And we try to see His fingerprints in everything that happens to us, good or bad. I sometimes think that tears are more precious to God than prayers, because He knows that pain is the great transformer... the forge of the soul. Some of these songs have been through that forge.
