"Only in theaters January 11!"

On January 11, 2008, Universal Pictures and Big Idea, makers of 2002’s wildly successful
Jonah—A VeggieTales Movie, the most successful vegetable movie of all time, present
The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything—A VeggieTales Movie. The CG-animated adventure, from Big Idea’s enormously popular VeggieTales franchise, stars
Larry the Cucumber,
Mr. Lunt and
Pa Grape (Elliot, Sedgewick and George) as three moping misfits trying to prove to the world who they really are. They want to be heroes … after all, how hard could it be?
In this new story of heroism in the beloved VeggieTales’ world, we follow the comic misadventures of these three Veggie pals who reluctantly set sail for adventure and discover that real heroes don’t have to be tall, strong, handsome … or even human.
Garrrrr! Working at The Pieces of Ate Dinner Theater is less than exciting when you’re a busboy. Elliot, Sedgewick and George (Larry the Cucumber, Mr. Lunt and Pa Grape)—all dream of the day when they can ditch their dishrags and star in the big pirate show.
But with Elliot’s timidity, Sedgewick’s laziness and George’s lack of self-confidence, it seems as if the day to prove who they really are will never come.
That all changes when a mysterious ball drops from the sky and lands at the unlikely seafarers’ feet. A “Helpseeker,” sent from the past in search of heroes, the artifact sets in motion a series of events that drags the friends back to the 17th century—and into the belly of certain danger. Now, The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything must each face their fears—becoming unlikely heroes in a battle to rescue a royal family from an evil tyrant, and themselves from living the life of common couch potatoes.
Phil Visher made his first animated film when he was nine years old and by age fourteen was convinced he would make movies when he grew up. After a brief stint in Bible College, Phil struck out on his own, looking for a way to integrate his faith with his filmmaking. This quest led him to a tomato and a cucumber. The year was 1991, and Phil was a newly married 25 year-old with no financial backing and no idea how his vegetables would ever see the light of day. Today, over 50 million VeggieTales videos have been purchased and Phil’s faith-filled stories can be found in 1/3 of all American homes with young children. Although Phil’s original company, Big Idea Productions, was dissolved in 2003, Phil continues his involvement with VeggieTales new owner Big Idea, Inc. and is actively pursuing new ways to integrate faith and storytelling through his new company, Jellyfish. Phil lives with his wife Lisa (aka
Junior Asparagus) and their three children in Wheaton, Illinois.
Mike Nawrocki has been involved with Big Idea as co-creator of the series from the beginning. Since then he has created, written and directed most of the extremely popular “Silly Songs with Larry” VeggieTales segments. His most recent directorial credits include
Lord of the Beans and
Sheerluck Holmes and the Golden Ruler, in addition to other classic VeggieTales episodes including
Madame Blueberry, King George and the Ducky, Sumo of the Opera, A Snoodle’s Tale and Esther…The Girl Who Became Queen. He co-wrote and co-directed
Jonah -- A VeggieTales Movie, Big Idea's hit film released in 2002 and is currently in production as director of Big Idea’s second feature film,
The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything -- A VeggieTales Movie, to be released by Universal Pictures January 11, 2008. Mike is the voice of many of the VeggieTales characters including the silly, yet lovable
Larry the Cucumber and his super-hero alter ego,
Larry-Boy. Mike spends his free time at his home in Franklin, TN with his wife, Lisa, their daughter, Alejandra and son, Michael.
