The Joshua Cain Band is available for live concerts or acoustic shows. Their music is extremely versatile and effective in worship settings, camps, clubs, conferences, and festivals. The three members Josh, Jason, and Nick have been playing music together in various bands for 12 years. They have played in every conceivable type of venue in various places around the world. Their music has received regular radio play and their songs have been picked up by legendary stations and media networks. From their Columbia Tri-Star Release song to their feature on the hit WBTV show “One Tree Hill” the boys have continued to demonstrate tremendous vision and skill.
At the turn of the century their lives took a dramatic turn when they moved into the heart of urban Tacoma and began to take in the profound struggle of the people in that community. They might have played great music, but truth found them in that town, stripped them down, and made them real. Working together with about 50 church members who had moved their homes and jobs into the downtown neighborhood, they began to experience a depth of faith in God beyond what they had known in their travels.
They left home for a final tour with their previous band in early 2007. When they returned that summer they knew it was time to really listen to how the city might speak to their music in a new way. They were not disappointed. The history of downtown cut its way into their hearts and bled out a new way of seeing the world. The old African Americans fighting for their community, the blue collar union workers fighting for their jobs, the homeless and displaced just tryin' to survive - the City of Destiny told its story well. The boys sucked in the aroma and breathed out a whole new sound. Loaded with the influence of delta blues, negro spirituals, and countrified working man music, The Joshua Cain Band was born.
After a year of listening and hard studio work the band had produced 14 songs of freedom and protest that were selected for the full length album, and 4 songs of worship for a second EP release. Each song is meant to reflect the collective experience of the people of faith that live in their town. As is almost always the case “what is most particular is most universal.” The response to their songs has been amazing both from church audiences as well as secular venues. Half protest rally, half front porch music, it makes you want to shake your fist and stomp your feet at the same time. The great philosopher Rousseau once said, “Keeping citizens apart has become the first maxim of modern politics.” The Joshua Cain Band aims to play music “that brings people together again.”
