I've wanted to be a psychologist since my senior year in high school. I've graduated from the University a year ago with a bach in Psych. This last year as my dad battled stomach cancer I put my plans for grad school on hold. Now I'm starting to apply and am nervous about getting into a program. I just want to help people cognitively/emotionally/ how to deal with what the world throws at them with a Christian perspective cause with out God whats the point trying to deal with anything? This world is halfway to hell and half way to heaven. I want to help the depressed, insecure, angry, scared, or the confused to see the evidance of heaven in this world.

Thats a really good goal and desire. But what is the goal of your counsoling? Like is it to help them deal with issuses and get over them or is it to restore them to a relationship with God? Progresive sanctification. Check out changed into His Image by Jim Berg it will explain what progresive sanctification is.
