It seems that because I'm young, I can't "do anything revolutionary" or "change the world" because I'm just a lowly high school student.
I can't do it because teens are "so insecure" about themselves or maybe "they do things on impulse" and even "they let their emotions rule over their heads."
Baloney.
Sure, it may be true that some teens do this. But that's stereotypical and "average" thinking on that level.
Do you just want to be mediocre? I wouldn't think that'd turn any heads. Why be boring or average when everything is so boring or average as it is?
Don't you think inventors like Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein were young when they wanted to change the world? Maybe all the adults looked down on them in that superior way that adults sometimes do to kids and said,
"Stop wasting your time." "You should pay more attention in school." "If you want to amount to anything you'd better stop your daydreaming."
If you were reading a biography in which people were saying that to the person being written about, what would be your opinion of those people? Who was the ignorant one in that situation?
I'm not only talking about adults here, either, I'll have you know. Teens and their peers are main suspects and culprits as well. It may be just a small word or phrase like "That's a dumb idea" or "That'll never work."
If you were a good friend, wouldn't you want to encourage and support the person's effort all you could? Even if it was/is a bit unthinkable, wouldn't you at least stand by them and urge them on?
And certainly, when the going gets tough, are you the one to first say "I told you it wouldn't work," shake your head, and them tell them that that's life?
I certainly hope not. If the whole world says that they're stupid for doing what they're doing, and then you go along with it, remember this; while that whole world was screaming at him to give up, do you think that he would consider the world his friend?
And if you started telling him that he should give up, wouldn't that put you on the same level as the rest of the world? Now tell me, would that make you his friend...? Or an opposing side. Maybe he would even consider you... his enemy.
Think.
When someone asks "why?" you should always ask "why not?"
That's the first step for changing the world.
