Being Canadian, it's only natural that Josh managed to introduce me to Hello Kelly... i've since enjoyed listening to the group's EPs and consistently mislabeling them Hello Kitty...

well, now, they've finally "arrived" and are officially signed to 7 Spin Records with a late summer release planned for their debut full-length release... right now though, i've got a quick look at the Green Things Grow EP which is the latest from them...

the first song is called "My Girlfriend" and fairly straightforward riff, simple chord progression and a half step tempo drop during the chorus... at least it feels that way... it's slightly awkward in that sense, but it's not as bad as the timing in the second song, "The Communication Breakdown" which doesn't ever seem to sync... like watching a DVD where the words don't quite match the moving lips... the music sounds a lot like "The Time to Make It Good" which was one of my favorite of the older songs...

the final track is called "No Time for Tears" and it's a softer sound, a bit poppier and the chorus has a nice ring to it... the vocals are a little better and they actually do fit the rhythm of the song quite well... I'm not sure which if any of these songs are going to actually make the full release, but regardless... i'm excited about the upcoming material... you should be too...

This EP is available on iTunes under the name Wait for Dreams EP (with a 4th song of the same title) and the older album is available song-by-song (minus the Tom Petty cover) as Modern Day Fades Away...

Got a few updates over on theTRu... last week, i got some album reviews knocked out (still have a few more coming)... you can check out my thoughts on Building 429 and The Sound of New Breed... in the coming days, i'll be putting down thoughts on Neon Horse, Rush of Fools, Article One, Newsboys, Theory Hazit, and Flatfoot 56... so stay TRu-ned for that...

There's also a brand new iTRu-nes playlist loaded up on the front page and as an iMix over at iTunes... definitely check that out as this month's list include TobyMac, K-Os, Derek Webb, Lovedrug and more.... and don't forget to head over to iTunes and rate the playlist so i can keep up with your tastes and keep the coverage in line with that...

And finally (for this update)... i dug back a little bit to December when i interviewed Urban D... just last week saw the release of Urban D's book, CD and DVD all titled Un.Orthodox and i had spoken with him about the projects and balancing cultural relevance with spiritual accountability... Since the interview was initially intended used in a piece i wrote for the pages of HM Magazine, there's also a bit of history behind Urban D and Crossover Community Church, where he is currently the Sr. Pastor... pretty good conversation all in all...

Plenty more coming down the pike... so, as always, keep it locked...

peace... love... bdg...
