WOW!! I came to know Christ while I was incarcerated! The "life" I lived up to Aug 14, 2000 was one steeped in alcohol & drug abuse from the age of 8. I went to church as a child but never came to know the True & Living King of kings.
It was after a stint in segregation that a baldhead fellow appoached my celldoor (I was on LOP..loss of priviledges for 2 weeks..) where he asked a simple question...."Is there anything I can help you out with?"....Well to the unbelieving nothing is innocent in prison there is always a catch to the worldly. He's like "No No No, I don't want anything in return, it's just that i'm a christian & the desire & ability to help you w/ such things as hygiene products, commissary items, etc. I ask nothing in return, but if you ever want to talk I'll be around." It was there that I met my first true christian & brother in Christ.
We spoke on the yard several times after that, where he explained the life, death, & resurrection of Jesus Christ: and how it will & does effect me personally. A few nights after that I got down on that dirty concrete cell floor & cried out for Jesus to take charge of my life & use me where & how He saw fit. You never know the meaning of those words till He's telling you to go witness to the meanest looking convict on your cellblock, & asking him if he'd like to hear how Christ died for his sins. It was there that I came to know the power & leading of The Holy Spirit. For the words I spoke where not mine but His. It is still the same today!! I try to listen & obey as I hear His still soft voice......If you'd like to know more please email: tarheelshinbone@yahoo.com or drop me a line at myccm.org/shinbone.
PS...It is my hearts desire, that as soon as I am able to go back into the prisons & minister to the men I left behind. I hope that my witness might open you up to the possibilty as well. Sure many men & women in there have committed horrible acts against society, but we all are responsible for putting Christ on that cross. He'd died once for ALL! In Christ I am & will always be, AMEN!!
