They finally put on the girl I featured a few weeks ago.. Cardin McKinney. I thought she had a nice voice, but she kind of reminded me of katharine McPhee, a little smug and full of herself, and a voice that might not sell records. Simon didn't even pass her through..can't see what the big buzz about her is about. here is her audition if you missed it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=043CoRqeGBc
I thought they kind of made fun of potential Christian singers this year a bit....by only showing bad ones..the producers are taking a risk by doing this. Maybe they didn't care for all the Christians last year dropping the ratings a bit. Still, Kristy Lee Cook's "Amazing Grace" was still the audition of the year! I can't believe I saw no one sing "You Raise me Up" at auditions..tha't usually a staple!
They have made Simon out to be a little more loveable this year. It was cool to se his heart melt with that little puppy. I love it when he winks at someone when they do well too.
Hey, do you ever wonder how many albums idol alums sell? You might like this chart via USA TODAY.
You know it's Idol season for me when my sales posts start creeping later and later into the day on Wednesdays. But here we go, with a reduced Idol presence on the Billboard album chart, as determined by sales figures from Nielsen SoundScan.
Daughtry drops from No. 19 to No. 24 but enjoys an 8% sales bump; overall album sales were up 4% this week, and a number of debuts in the top 25 pushed older albums down on the chart even if their sales were up. Daughtry sold 22,000 this week for a total of 3.73 million.
Carrie's Carnival Ride is down 22-30, but in this case is accompanied by a sales drop as well, a mild 5% decline to 19,000 that brings her total to 1.80 million.
Jordin drops 49-53 but gains 7% in sales, up to the mid-13,000s, for a total of 474,000.
And Carrie's Some Hearts falls 58-67, dropping 4%, for a total of 6.24 million.
After eight weeks on the chart, Blake falls off. You'll see how far in the non-charting Idols section that follows.
Blake's sales dropped from 4,000 to 2,900, about 500 short of the number needed to crack the top 200 this week. That's about a 27% drop, pretty much the same as his sales fell last week. His total is 258,000, which is at least comfortably above Justin and Diana's levels, insuring he won't be the lowest-selling runner-up.
His sales this week were actually about 100 fewer than Kellie's -- she sold 3,000, up from 2,900, to bring her total to 712,000.
And Kelly's ineligible-for-the-chart Breakaway was the best-selling off-chart Idol album at 3,600 copies, down from 3,700, for a total of 5.95 million. My December sold 1,800, down from 2,000, to total 749,000.
Elliott sold 1,600, same as last week, for a total of 491,000.
Bucky sold 1,400, up from 1,200, to hit 322,000.
Fantasia jumped back into four figures at 1,000, up from 700, and has sold 505,000 in total.
Mandisa sold 800, up from 700, to reach 70,000.
Bo sold 500, same as last week, for a total of 39,000.
The newly married Katharine sold 300, same as last week, for a total of 367,000.
Clay sold 200, same as last week, for a total of 523,000.
The five members of the 100 club this week are all repeaters:
Taylor's total is 700,000.
Ruben's is 236,000.
Constantine's is 24,000.
Paris' is 21,000.
Kimberley's is 18,000.

I thought that was kind of interesting. Mandisa's 70,000 is very good in the Christian marketplace. I love Bo's new album, can't believe it has sold only 39,000. His first CD wasn't that good and went over a million on his reputation. I wish he could have put out his second album first..he might have had Daughtry like numbers!
I think I was most surprised to see Bucky is almost even with Katharine!
Well, enough for this week..have a great one!
