Hey guys..week 4 turned out to be most difficult for predicting games for us. We all missed the Cleveland upset, who knew that Carson Palmer would be out? Only 2 picked Tampa Bay and Jets to win. Doug beat the odds and got 5 points and my daughter Kayla got 4. Craig got 2 plus the bonus point for the trivia question. Steve, Keith and Chris all got only one and I went a perfect zippo! I'm glad I eliminate the worst 2 weeks. For the year it tightens up, with Craig and Dougie on top with 17 and Steve right behind with 16. Chris has 14 and my daughter is not bad with 13. Keiith and I only have 10 and 8, but we don't care after our teams won last week. Trent Edwards pulls off his third straight 4th quarter comeback over the Lambs..er.Rams..and Redskins shock the Cowboys. I didn't even have that game as one of our picks because I thought it was a no-brainer...silly me! On the other hand, Dougie, who did the best, had his team, the Broncos, do the worst, somehow losing to Chiefs. The league is crazy to understand.
This week has all kinds of interesting matchups..here are the 5 I picked:
1) Tennessee at Baltimore. The Ravens should have won last night to make this a battle of undefeated teams. Defense should rule in this one.
2) Pittsburgh at Jacksonville. This is the sunday night game..do the Steelers play on prime time every week?
3) Washington at Philly. A great matchups of two teams in footballs best division.
4) Tampa Bay at Denver. I couldn't match a color with either of these teams so I will go with the old school Orange Crush for Denver. Two 3-1 teams could be a shootout.
the 2 point game....
5) Buffalo at Arizona. The Cards were embarrassed by Brett Farve and the Bils might be do for a letdown as they travel to the west coast. Cardinals are actually favored in this game.

Coming in the near future will be a new and improved myccm. We will have the ability to have online chats during games if anyone is into that. I'd love to chat with you guys..you can give me input for future games to pick, and all kinds of smack can be tossed around. I'll keep you all up to speed on that new site when it happens.
Quickly, my baseball predictions. Rochester's farm team the Twins get a chance to play their way in tonight. I think it will be Tampa and the Angels advancing in A.L..and Cubs and Philly in N.L. I predict the Cubs will end their 100 year old drought and win the World Series over the Angels.
Have a great week everyone!..Jim

Sorry I am a little late with the football blog, I've been busy!
Week 3 brought us some great action. The mystique of the Patriots may now be gone after the Dolphins destroyed them. The Broncos win another shootout. The Cowboys look like the class of the league after winning in Green Bay for the first time ever. But for me, the story is my Buffalo Bills. They stumbled, bumbled, had some bad breaks, but after 3 quarters they were down 16-7. Trent Edwards led them 96 yards to get within 2. with 8 minutes left. Looked like they would stop the Raiders but they caught the Bills with a quick 84 yard touchdown strike. So the Bills had 6 minutes, only one timeout, and needing 2 scores. Edwards did his best Montana and calmly led them down to a touchdown in 2 minutes, then after getting the ball back with 2 minutes left, led them down for winning field goal. Fans in these parts are so excited to have the first great QB since Jim Kelly. If he stays healthy, and with an easy schudule, they could go 12-4 and win the division. So take a look at the next great Bills QB!:

So in the contest this week last years champ Chris returned to form with 5 points. Craig was the only other one to get the 2 points for picking Dallas and got 4 points. Steve's 2 straight undefeated weeks went down and got 3 points along with Keith. Scott, Kayla and myself got 2 and Dougie wound up with just one. For the year Steve has 15, Craig has 14, Chris has 13 and Dougie 12. Kayla and Keith have 9 and I have only 8. Scott has only 4 but missed a week. Rebel is just getting back to normal in Houston and will return this week..keep her and her family in prayer.
This week it is hard to pick 5 super good games, but here goes..
Game 1) Green Bay at Tampa Bay. Two 2-1 teams battle it out in the battel for the best Bay team.
2) Baltimore at Pittsburgh. Monday night game features the undefeated Ravens against a beat up Steeler team.
3) Cleveland at Cincy. This is the stinko bowl! Two winless teams that someone has to win. Will Brady Quinn make an appearance?
4) San Francisco at New Orleans. The 49ers have been a mild surprise this year..
5) two point game..Arizona at New York Jets. Farve has looked old..Warner is also close to social security..who will win and live to tell their grandchildren?
I told you it wasn't the greatest selection of games. I have a fun fact about this weeks Bills game. The Rams have benched Bulger and will start Trent Green. It will be Trent Green against Trent Edwards. In the history of tne NFL there has only been one other Trent who played QB. When he played he was heavily picked on but he did something only a few other QB's have done. The first person who tells me in the comment box gets a bonus point..if no one gets it I'll take the point! Have a great week everyone!

The contest is now closed...Craig got it with Trent Dilfer..the most unlikely Super Bowl winner ever!

I asked my peeps to give me a topic for this weeks Rushmore blog. Craig came through with a bunch of good ones. I will use a few of them in the coming weeks but this weeks topic is:
Who would be on your Mt. Rushmore of animal actors?
This is just weird enough to be interesting..here is mine:
1) Mr Ed. What person over 40 doesn't know the entire theme song..A Horse is a horse of course of course. A talkling horse? what a show!
2) Lassie. Here girl, Timmy would always say..but the actual Lassie's were boys. I have the DVD's of this show..good stuff.
3) Chance. I love the Homeword Bound movies and the dog played by Michael J. Fox was my fave!
4) Tigger. My kids are over watching Winnie the Pooh video's but Tigger was the star of those shows. This brings up the point..is a cartoon character another animal or another subject for a future Rushmore?
other possibilities were Stuart Little..Rin Tin Tin...Moris the cat...Benji...Gentle Ben...I know I am forgeting some pet!
So tell me your animals for Rushmore!.

Great week of action. The Cowboys just won a real barnburner, which kept my daughter Kayla from going undefeated and beating all of us experts. Instead, Steve goes undefeated for second week in a row! Joining him with 6 points this week are Dougie and Craig. My father in law Dean is now in the contest, and got 5 points along with Kayla. Chris and myself got 4, Keith got 3 and Scott comes back to the contest, but only got 2. Rebel couldn't play this week cause I believe she might have lost her power down in Houston.
For the year Steve has 12, Dougie 11, Craig 10 and Chris 8. I'll give a full rundown once a month.
Bills had a great win over Jags. My boy Trent Edwards (see blog profile photo) showed great composure in coming from behind. The poor Chargers got robbed by the refs but I'm sure Dougie was thrilled for his Broncos. Cleveland and Minnesota have the dumbest coaching staffs in the league. Aaron Rodgers are making people say Brett who?
This week has a few good matchups. I must have done a poor job last week because in each game the team that had the most picks won. I was the only one with the Vikes and I looked good until last 15 minutes. So here is weeks 3 games:
Cleveland at Baltimore. These cities hate each other since the original browns moved to Baltimore. Browns need win desperately after losing first two games at home.
Arizona at Washington. Might not be a sexy matchup but it's a tossup to figure out. Figured I would throw skins fan Keith a bone!
Carolina at Minnesota. If you notice I try to have one of the teams colors on these comments. Like Browns, Vikes gotta have this game. Panthers won first 2 games in great fashion.
Pittsburgh at Philly. The battle of Pennsylvania!
and the 2 point game is...
Dallas at Green Bay. Great Sunday night matchup. Cowboys looked a little shaky at times Monday but pulled it out.
If you have any thoughts on week two's games, feel free to leave them along with your picks for this week. have a great week everyone!..Jimmy the geek.

America kind of messed up in picking a top 10. I want to do a longer blog on the show this weekend and the remaining 10, but my quick take is that the 10 on tuesday were not nearly as good as the 10 on wednesday so 2 that got through from tuesday, Jessica Price and Paul Salos, made it in place of a couple from wednesday that should have made it, Jonathan Burkin and Sarah Lenore. The judges messed up by picking a dime a dozen Elvis guy, Joseph Hall, over the baton twirling Burkin. My favorite act, nuttin but Stringz, sailed through, but everyone else is a singing act so there is not much variety in the final 10. The dance team Extreme dance fx got the short end of the stick as well. Little 4 year old Kaitlyn Maher made it at least. What are your takes?

The first week ends with Steve getting all the games right for 6 points. Doug has 5, Craig and Chris have 4, Keith has 3, me and Kayla have 2 and Rebel only with one.
For those who didn't read in my comment box, my daughter Kayla will be a guest picker. She knows nothing about football except that her daddy is usually sad after the Bills play. If she beats out anyone in this contest, it will prove you don't need to know anyting to pick games!
(another late note..thanks for making me the featured blogger Fritz..maybe more people will find out about this and play along!)
It will be an interesting year without Tom Brady. The TV commentators say it will be bad for the league but I think the fans of the other 31 teams are happy. The fans around here are really thinking playoffs for the Bills now. They were awesome against the Seahawks, and maybe they won't be the whipping boys for the Patriots this year. My playoff picks of the Lions and Vikes look bad now. Vikes need a decent QB, the Packs Aaron Rodgers did very well in his debut.
This week there is a bunch of good games to choose from but I have narrowed it down to 5 tough games to pick.
1) Buffalo at Jacksonville. Will the Bills beat another playoff team from last year?
2) Indy at Minnesota. 2 teams that laid an egg in week one need to rebound quickly.
3) San Diego at Denver. This one is for you Doug!
4) Philly at Dallas. great Monday nighter, both were awesome in week one.
two pointer game...New England at New York Jets. The first game post Brady against the Farve boys.
OK, you have all week to decide. If you missed week one it's not too late to join, I throw out the worst 2 weeks at the end of year anyway. have a great week..Jimbo

It's saturday and time for this week's MT. Rushmore subject..this time..."WHO WOULD BE ON YOUR MOUNT RUSHMORE OF TV ACTORS?"
I thought this would really bring a wide variety of answers. Some will give some of their favorites from right now, others will give old school answers, and that's where I am coming from. Here is my list:
1) Michael Landon. The one thing I am looking for on my Rushmore are actors who had more than one TV show that I loved. Anyone can get lucky with one hit show, but to be in more than one takes a special talent. Number one on my list has got to be Landon. From a young heartthrob Little Joe on Bonanza..to the wise Charles Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie..and finally as an angel on Highway to Heaven, he had a career of over 25 years of wholesome TV.
2) Dick Van Dyke. Starred in the timeless comedy named after himself in the early 60's, then late in life had a great run in Diagnosis Murder. Being in some classic movies like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins doesn't count, but doesn't hurt his cause either!
3) Mary Tyler Moore...Starred as Van Dyke's wife Laura Petrie on his show. I think every boy in america had a crush on her. Then starred in her own classic show in the 70's. A great comedic actress.
4) Jack Klugman. My favorite comedy of all time is the Odd Couple, and his version of messy Oscar is pure comic perfection. Then he played a serious role as a coroner in Quincy.
I had so many others that could have been on the list..like Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, Alan Alda, Tim Allen, Jackie Gleason, John Stamos, Richard Thomas, Billy Ray Cyrus..(Hey..DOC was a great show, don't laugh. Plus he has the second show creditials in Hannah Montana.)
So who would you put on your TV actor's Mt. Rushmore? remember, there is no wrong answers, just fun opinions! Seeya!

OK, football season starts in an hour so I better make my playoff picks. I listed them last night in my comment section on my playoff blog but I will get into more detail here.
In The AFC I have the division winners being New England, Cleveland, Chargers and Indy, with Bills and Jags the wild card teams.
In The NFC I have the division winners being the Cowboys, Vikings, Saints and Cardinals, with the Eagles and Lions being the wild card teams. I am going out on a limb quite a bit this year but I have learned that playing it safe gets you nowhere in the crazy NFL. The Vikes are my team to win the Super Bowl over the Colts, but they can just as easily go 6-10 if their QB Jackson still stinks. The rest of the team looks set.
Every team that makes the playoffs gets 1 point at the end of the year in the football contest..make your playoff picks below or in my other blog. The 5 games to pick are in a previous blog as well. If you pick the Giants or Redskins after the gane tonight you won't get a point at end of year credit..sorry!
Enjoys the games!..Jim
