Well, last night was the most anticipated Faith night at the ball park with Hawk Nelson. I was expecting the stage to be in the field, and that we would have to stay in the stands and not get too close. So I was excited to see that they set up the stage in the concourse, with their trucks opened up and used for a stage. It was a great setup. The first song I stood back a bit, but then my wife went off to this grassy section with the kids and I got right up next to the stage, right next to Daniel the bass player! It actually isn't as noisy there as the speaker is 20 feet over your head and it blows over you.

The concert was everything i hoped for and more. Jason is such a great performer with command of the stage. Daniel was always giving me nods of approval for singing along. Jason talked about faith, baseball, and other things between songs, but just the right mixture without talking too much and losing the momentum from the show.

I forgot to bring a pencil to write the songs down, but I remembered most of it..maybe not the right order=) They opened with "The One Thing I Have Left", then rocked into "The Show". Then they did songs from their first CD, "Letters To The President" and "Every Little Thing". I think they did "Everything You Ever Wanted" and "Is Forever Enough" next.

They did my fave, "Hello", then asked for someone to come up on stage with them. The lucky dude got to play a kazoo with the rest of the band in that section of the song, then Jason let him sing the chorus. He was kind of nervous to do it, and who could blame him!

Then they introduced the best song of the set, because "They Didn't Write It"..a cover of the classic Cars song "You're Just What I Needed". That was cool but I still preferred their own material. Then they did "California" before closing with the rollicking "Bring 'Em Out". They blew the smoke up in the air like a foot from my head..I'm surprised I can still hear today!

It was just a great concert, A+ all the way!! My family was all hungry and wanted to get food before the game, so I didn't wait in the long line for autograph's when they came out. I was better off though, standing behind the people as they passed through so I could actually talk with the guys for a few minutes instead of a few seconds. They weren't allowing people to pose with the band with the size of the crowd to get through, so I couldn't have posed for a profile picture anyway. Daniel chatted with me a lot because he knew me from standing beneath him. I also got to give them my "Q & A" blog..Jason stuck it in his pocket and they thought it was really cool that I did something like that. I doubt that they ever saw it on my blog, so finally I got it in their hands.

My kids also got to meet the Bob and Larry from the Veggietale's. We ate our food and then I took another picture when Jason was about to throw out the first pitch. I will post a few pictures on this blog, but for the other shots, please go to my photo's section. You can see I'm using a picture for my profile picture. Outdoor concerts are the best for taking good shots!

Rochester blew a late lead and it went extra innings. I told the kids we would stay for one more inning to see the fireworks, and we lost in the 10th so the kids got to see them, then run the bases afterwards. All in all, a great family night. Here's a good shot of Jason with the crowd, and a group shot of all 4 guys.
