Hey everyone..since I don't get to write much here's what I've ben up to.
The Hawk Nelson concert at the ballgame is Sunday. I just missed winning tickets so I bought them for the family. The other day Sue's best friend won a grand prize of tickets AND a day at our Christian festival in August! She already had tickets for both and we could have gone to Hawk Nelson for free, but she did give us the festival tickets! We are going on a day with TobyMac, Chris Tomlin, Aaron Shust, Red, Fireflight and Denver and the Mile High Orchestra. Should be a great night!
Our t-ball is ending tomorrow with a big picnic with all the homeschooled players beforehand. My daughter showed great improvement this year. Hoping she will not give up like my other one did after she turns 8. The following day we are throwing a big party in our yard. The weather looks great for all these things, including the concert.
Keep in prayer for God's will on a new mail route I'm bidding on. It won't be such a rich neighborhood, so tips would be down Christmastime, but the walking would be much easier. I'll know in 2 weeks if I get it.
It's been a HOT spring..enjoying our pool for sure!
Got a neat new peep out of the blue who wrote our mealtime devotions book..Tricia Goyer. Check her out at www.myccm.org/triciagoyer She has a ton of good materials and cool blogs!
Finally got the CD's from Jessie Daniels, Mat Kearney and Flyleaf. Now I see what all the buzz is about! Mat's had a bonus acoustic CD too. Sure sounds like Blake Lewis from American Idol. If you are bummed that Kelly Clarkson's CD is getting ripped for being so dark, get Jessie Daniel's CD instead! Flyleaf just blows me away..like a female RED=)
Has anyone ever had a well known Christian music act who has a myccm site leave a comment back? The very first one I had, The Newsboys, left me a nice comment on my old pictures of them, but never a comment since. I'm sure the artists themselves hardly ever see these comments, but SOMEONE or SOMETHING is accepting our peep requests like in 15 seconds. I just think it would be good for their CD sales if they said a quick thanks when we say how we dig their music or whatever. I read that CCM article about how the Christian artists interact with their fans on myspace, and was just kind of thinking they would do it on this site too. What is your opinion? Now indie artists and book writers are the nicest for responding to our comments..thanks to you guys. I still like just good old fashion plain music fans the most. You guys ROCK!
Well, I'm getting high speed internet FINALLY next week..so I can now watch and comment on all your video clips, and enjoy music samples without pauses! I can't wait.
Take care..I have tons of blog idea's if I find the time in the coming weeks, plus a review of the concert. Hoping I can meet Hawk Nelson for a good profile page picture.
Worship the King and praise his Holy name!
Love, Jimbo

This blog may be for only 2 peeps, Chels and Alicia, my Yankee pals!
My history of liking the greatest team in the history of organized sports..the 26 time World Champion New York Yankees!
I was born in 1961, and when I was old enough to realize it, I saw that was the year of one of the great Yankee teams. They won the Series, Maris hit his 61 homers, so I said that's my team!
Sadly, when i was old enough to root for them by 1967 or so, they were terrible. They still had Mickey Mantle, but that was about it. My first fave player was Bobby Richardson, a strong Christian (a Pastor now who helped convert Mickey at the end of his life!) I used to carry his baseball card in elementary school and tell people he was my uncle!
They really didn't get good until 1974, then when I was in high school they took off, with 3 pennants and 2 world series. The greatest year was 1978, when they were 14 back of the Red Sox. I heard it big time from the Red Sox fans in the spring, but by the time fall rolled around, we were in first and eventually won the division playoff game with the famous Bucky Dent homer. I can remember that whole game in my mind like it was yesterday! My favorite players from that era were Graig Nettles, Thurman Munson, Sparky Lyle, Catfish Hunter, Chris Chambliss and Reggie Jackson. !978 was also the only time I got to Yankee Stadium, which was unbelievable. They beat the A's both games in August. I have seen them play in Baltimore and Toronto several times.
Of course most of the 80's into 1994 were dry times. We had Donnie Mattingly, but every year the high priced talent didn't mesh, much like this year.
Of course along came 1996 and the greatness of the 4 series winners in 5 years. my favorite players were Jeter, Bernie, Tino, Brosius, Mariano, O'Neill, Pettitte, Leyritz, Girardi, Posada and David Cone. We had so many Christians back then too, like Mo, Girardi, Bernie, Chad Curtis, Andy, etc. These guys were such winners. We really got spoiled, and when we blew the Arizona series in the bottom of the 9th how little did we know we would never come that close again this decade. Then of course the Red Sox coming back was like a nail in our hearts. Since then I've found myself not getting too emotionally attached until playoff time, then it's more letdown. I almost think a year without the playoffs might be good in the long run.
Have you ever noticed that when a Republican is in the White House, the Yanks haven't won since 1958? That's heartbreaking for me since I am one. A good pattern is when Kentucky wins in NCAA basketball, The Yanks have won the World Series like 6 times in a row dating back to the 40's. I keep hoping kentucky wins when a Republican is in the White House, to see which pattern holds up!
If you have any favorite Yankee memories, feel free to post them here! Thanks for your time..Jimbo

Don't know if many of you have heard of Isaiah Six. I never really had, but they were playing up the street from me so I checked them out last night. I saw them when they were pulling their equipment in earlier in the day, and I asked them what they sounded like, and they said Chris Tomlin mixed with a little U2. I said that sounds good, so I went later.
They have been around almost 10 years and have a heart for worship and missions. The singer has an excellent voice that is a little like Tomlin, and the newest material they played did have a little U2 vibe. If you ever hear of them coming to a church near you, it's definitely worth checking out! They were cool guys to chat with afterwords too. Here is a concert picture of them..their website is www.isaiahsixmusic.com

Today I have the pleasure to have a Question and Answer session with Jason of Hawk Nelson. Hope you enjoy it!
Q: Jason, Hawk Nelson is such a great band! It's great to get to have this.
A: Hello!
Q: Should we talk here for the interview or go outside?
A: Right Here.
Q:Why did you want to do this interview?
A: Something on my mind.
Q: This may take awhile, how much time do you have?
A: Is Forever Enough?
Q: Hopefully it won't take that long. What exactly is on your mind?
A: Every little thing.
Q: That covers a lot. When you visit the states from your native Canada, where do you like to visit?
A: California
Q: Have you been here in Rochester often?
A: First time.
Q: I've heard you would like to visit New York City as well, would you like to go with me?
A: Take me!
Q: Once there, where would you like to go first?
A: The show
Q: Ah...nothing like Broadway! Would you prefer the matinee performance?
A: The late show.
Q: That means it would be after midnight by the time it was over...what then?
A: Nothing left to show.
Q: You sure do love the word "Show". In grade school, did you like show and tell the best?
A: Recess.
Q: Me too, bro. Now in Canada you have some odd exchange rates. If I bring 10 bucks it would be worth 12 bucks there. How many days are in October?
A: 36 days.
Q: How odd...how many disciples did Jesus have according to your Canadian teachings?
A: Fourteen.
Q: That's just whack! Let's try this, if you were holding your two fantastic CD's, and I took one, what would you have?
A: The one thing I have left.
Q: That's better. I heard you guys are wrestling fanatics. What are the chances you rename your group "Half Nelson?"
A: Zero
Q: Now tell us of the horrible thing that happened on the way here.
A: Head on collision.
Q: Wow, went through your mind?
A: Smile, it's the end of the world!
Q: Praise God no one got hurt. Can I offer you a choice of 2 vehicles to get you back home?
A: Bring 'em out.
Q: Would you like to borrow the minivan or the corvette?
A: Like a racecar!
Q: Hope you have a safe trip, is it a scenic trip?
A: Long and lonely road.
Q: OK J, I've asked you over 20 questions, and all you do is lob song and CD titles at me. I think you are using me to promote your music for more airplay. This has happened to me before and I'm tired of looking like a fool. This interview is finished!
A: It's over!

(I printed this blog in March..but since John Waller is now a peep, I'll republish it in hopes he reads it!) It seems once a year a new artist or two explodes on the scene. Casting Crowns...The Afters..Aaron Shust..Leeland..and this year John Waller. by now you may have heard the buzz that he was the only Christian artist on Billboard's top 10 artists to watch for in 2007 That is a lot of hype to live up to..but this CD lives up to the challenge!
Most of you have probably heard "The Blessing", which Casting Crown's Mark Hall lends his vocals. That powerful anthem is just one of many sensational cuts on this album. It starts off with "Calling for a Flood", about the Holy Spirit overflowing in our lives. It's ironic that the very first word sung is the word "Flood", because his vocals at times remind me a bit of Jars of Clay's Dan Haseltine, who of course became well known for the song "Flood".
The CD isn't just a mellow worship album, it rocks with tasty guitars and a solid bass line ala Casting Crowns or Mercy Me. Hopefully this will be a full time band behind him!
Another thing I like about the CD is that it has Bible verses for most of the songs. That is getting less common these days.
Other song highlights are "He Still Calls Me Son", which compares us to the prodigal son, that the Lord is always ready to welcome us back when we mess up. It could be a classic like Benny Hester's "When God Ran". The highlight of the album for me is "Love To Say Your Name", which is a rockin' chorus of all the names (and the meanings) for the Lord. This would be a great song for a Church setting. "Breathe on Me" starts gentle, then goes into a powerful cry..and a powerful guitar! The album closes with a duet with producer Mark Miller of Sawyer Brown fame, called "Sacred Pages".
So this CD is the leader in the clubhouse for new artist of the year. I would give it 9.5 stars out of 10!
Edit note in June..I'll still rank this among the best CD's this year. I hadn't played it in a while, but going back to it this week for repeated listens, it still sounds great. Looking forword to hearing a new song on the radio besides "The Blessing".
