We live in the middle of the woods and we are having an infestation of oak worms. I don't know why the township hasn't sprayed for these worms.
We captured as many moths when they hatched in July as we could.
The ones that we didn't catch, layed and hatched 1,000's of eggs so we now have 1,000's of oak worms. We took down as many branches with eggs on the leaves as we could but some were too high up.
We have been having to go out and kill the oakworms. Their feces is so thick outside it is impossible to walk anywhere.
My dream was, that I walked to the edge of the woods and there was an oakworm the size of a cyote. My dogs tail was hanging out of it's mouth. Needless to say, I RAN! This was a horrible nightmare!
We have spent over $140.00 on pesticides but nothing seems to kill them. This is truly a pestilance.
But because we did collect the moths in July when they were breeding and then by burning the branches with eggs on them, we noticed our trees are only about 1/3 bare. Our neighbors trees are completely stripped of all the leaves.
It has taught us perserverance, patience and it's given us a lot of prayer time everyday. I would not wish this problem on anybody!
Be Blessed,
