Tithing Ten Percent? Not Entirely Right...

I had someone I know recently make a post saying that tithing is not
scriptural in the New Testament. He went on to talk about why you
shouldn't give ten percent to the church and quoted scriptures to make
that point. Personally, it sounded like someone wanted to keep more in
his pocket and was making excuses but I decided to give a deeper look
and discovered he was right in a sense but not seeing the big picture.
God doesn't deserve our ten percent. He deserves it all. Why? It's all His anyway...
"The earth is
the Lord’s and the
fullness thereof, the world and those who
dwell therein" - Psalm 24:1 (ESV)
"For “the
earth is the
Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.” - 1 Corinthians 10:26 (ESV)
Written by King David in the Old Testament and quoted by Paul in the
New Testament. Everything in the world...you, me, our "stuff", our
money...belongs to God. It's not just ten percent of it.
So don't restrict yourself to ten percent going to God. Pray, listen
to the Holy Spirit and give where He tells you to give. If you are
faithful in your giving when He tells you to do it you'll find that He
will supply your needs.
