Flying Blind

One of the things as believers we need to keep in mind is that we have
false teachers and false doctrine and false beliefs that are all around
us. Sometimes these false teachings will be wrapped up in pretty paper
that seems like it's based in solid Biblical fact when in reality it
conflicts with the Word of God. I'm not talking about gray areas where
a Scripture might be debatable...I'm talking about places where people
profess Christ and then say that everyone's going to get into heaven
regardless if they accept Christ as Lord or not. If we're not careful,
we'll end up flying blind into deception.
"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see
whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into
the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and
every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the
spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the
world already." - 1 John 4:1-3 (ESV)
Remember that the basis for our faith as Christians is a belief that
CHRIST is the only way to eternal life with God. If you reject Him
then you are rejecting the only atonement for your sins and you will
not be seen as blameless on the day of judgment because Jesus won't
step in and tell the Father to look on Him.
So if you're dealing with someone who is trying to teach about Jesus
and the Christian faith a good first place to start is to ask them
about salvation through Jesus alone. If they can't accept this...
"
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one
comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6 (ESV)
...then you need to question what you are being taught by that teacher.
