I would like the willingness to quit smoking. I have been praying for it and would like to know if anyone has any good Bible verses that could help me out.
Thanx, JackieB

From what I know it doesn't say anything about smoking in the Bible. My advice for you would be pray to God about it like you are and He will give the answer you need about smoking. You could try looking in the Bible but still from what I know there is nothing about smoking in the Bible. I went to Bible college and learned about the Bible so I would know if things are in the Bible or not. I also know that Jesus didn't mention anything about smoking in the gospels which is Mark, Luke, John, and Matthew. I hope that helped. God bless you.

I quit smoking after 28 years. I tried 3 times before I finally got desperate. I had five dollars to my name and no gas and no cigarettes. I didn't know what to do, so I feel to my knees and with all my heart and soul I begged God to help me break my smoking habit. From that instant I never graved another cigarette. This is for real. I consider God my Patch to quite smoking. It has been 7 years now and it seems like I never smoked at all. So fall to your knees with a desperate plea and He will help you quit. Rebecca S Johnson

Well... I watched my mother waste away from lung cancer and as a daughter I would have appreciated if she had taken better care of herself. I don't know if you have any children, but I guarantee they will not enjoy watching you lose your weight, hair and life to the addiction of cigarettes.
Even though it was her decision to smoke, it was one of the toughest things I have ever lived through. I also walked away from that experience wondering why her love for my brother and I wasn't enough to keep her from smoking. So if you have kids, you may wish to think about that.
If you don’t have children perhaps you need to ask yourself what it is inside of you that decides to give into the craving. As a Christian you are one of the most worthy people on this planet. You have already crossed the threshold to be an appreciator. Appreciate the lungs God gave you - your body is the place you worship Jesus. If Christ was coming to your place for supper, I feel pretty confidant you would clean your apartment from stem to stern. However, for some reason we don't give our own selves that same respect.
Jackie, the fact that you want to quit is wonderful. I believe you can do anything you want to. Quitting WILL be hard. You know this. You also know smoking is a temptation. Now God may not talk about smoking, but his view on temptation is quite clear. This life is for real Jackie, even if it feels unreal half the time. Just APPRECIATE that you are here and you may find smoking suddenly doesn't feel so good anymore.
Good luck and God bless!!

i know as an ex smoker that it is hard to give up but not impossible each time you smoke you make the choice to do so. so set your self a day when you will give up buy some chewing gum and every time you fancy a ciggarette chew some gum take it a day at a time reminding yourself that you don't want to be addicted to anything but the lord jesus and you don't want to intentionally harm your body which is the temple of the holy spirit good luck.
