Peep, what is it?

I am still trying to get an answer to a question that I have asked three previous times. Could someone please tell me what a peep is? The letters stand for something, but what. Your help is appreciated.

I've never heard of the letters standing for something so im kinda intrested in what they have to say too, i thought peeps were just like, your buddies???
