Why do people listen to music? How many different kinds of music do people listen to? Why do some of us listen to hard rock or rap one day and the next listen to worship or soft rock? Please answer; questions for school.

Those are all real good questions. I would say people listen to music because it can speak to them through the lyrics of the song and they can get into the music through the instruments played by the bands or even the beats in the hip hop songs. I would say there is lots of genres of music so it would be too many to count all of the genres in music. It depends on the person whether they love listening to hard rock or rap or if they love listening to worship or soft rock. Everyone loves to listen to different music and this music can be in all different genres. I hope what I have said answered all of your questions.

i personally listen to music for like different reasons. i like to use it as an escape sometimes and other times its just something i really enjoy. and wow...there are so many different types of music that people listen to...i dont even want to guess how many cause i know there's a TON! LoL and for the next question...sometimes it just depends on my mood. i personally like to listen to hard rock when i'm sad...screamo actually. idk why exactly it just really helps me feel better...but then sometimes when i'm kinda more like excited i guess..i will want to listen to something fast and upbeat..sometimes that could be considered as soft rock (ex. hawk nelson or relient k)
i hope these helped in any way....but good questions!!

I mostly listen to Christian music. All types of Christian music. I try to have that mindset throughout my day. It keeps me grounded & thinking where I should be thinking.

Let me see, how many different kind of music are there in my collection?
*Dance: high-energy electronic, trance, techno, industrial, synthpop, house, drum'n'bass, disco, funk
*Other styles that are danceable but not officially "dance music": hiphop, r&b, soul, punk, new wave, ska, big band
*Modern rock (i.e. Future Of Forestry, Leeland); traditional rock (i.e. Casting Crowns, Petra); classic rock, arena rock, progressive rock, metal, death metal, emo, shoegazer, alternative, adult alternative, Southern rock...I'm sure I'm leaving some out here
*Acoustic: piano-based, guitar-based (some call this folk)
*Blues-based: blues, zydeco, jazz
*Mellow: New Age, ambient, smooth jazz, lounge, adult contemporary
*Pop: dance pop, dream pop, indie pop, psychedelia, pop punk, bubblegum
*Unique to Christian: black gospel, praise & worship (there's also Southern Gospel and hymns but they aren't in my collection)
*Latin: Reggaeton, salsa, merengue, Norteno, Latin pop
*Brazilian: bossa nova, (maybe others but not sure of the names)
*World Beat: includes fusions of sound from the Middle East, India/Pakistan, Africa, East Asia, and the Latin world, usually mixed with dance beats
*Classical: Gregorian chant, Medieval, Renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic, impressionistic, modern, classical crossover
*Country, bluegrass

That's all the styles of music in my collection that I can think of; I may be missing some, but that should get you started! :-)

Why do I listen to music? The main reason is that music does something for my emotional being that nothing else does. The style of music I listen to depends on my mood. This would be why I listen to one style of music one time, and a different style another time.

Sometimes I listen to music to get me motivated (particularly with something like housework...need that beat to keep me going!).

Oh, I also wanted to say that I mostly listen to Christian musicians because it's a great way to help keep me in the right frame of mind, and in the case of vertical music, focused on my relationship with God. The hard part for me is that most of the music I like best is nearly impossible to find with Christian lyrics.

I would say that each one of us has our own tastes and likes. Some really like hard rock, others like mellow classical, others like other styles, and many like a combination of styles.

i also listen to different music. it depends on what my attitude is! i think a lot of people are trying to find out where they belong in life! most people just like the different beats of the music.
