Friend help....
Asked by: singergirl on November 16, 2007 at 6:00PM EST
Recently, my friend has stopped talking to me, and someone told me why. They said it was because she thought i was cocky, i joke too much, and i brag a lot, which i don't do. Then when we were at church, we were talking about the 8th commandment, and my friend said that if you have a problem with someone, then they should tell you. But she hasn't told me. Does that make her a hypocrite? Should i be offended by this? What do you think i should do?

Dynamics between friends can be hard. The first thing you should do is ask God to help you think this through and be open to seeing yourself for who you really are and how you relate to other people. Open your heart to the truth - if you treat other people with the highest level of love and respect, then you don't have anything to worry about. The fact is that we all need to do better in our relationships - no one is perfect. The next thing you need to do is go to your friend and find out the truth - often hearsay is wrong - it is always best to talk to people directly in a loving, caring way - with a lot of humility. As a musician you will always have people that are jealous, but that doesn't mean you can't love them as much as anyone else. Remember, we only have one choice - Jesus told us to love one another.

The first thing I would do is pray about it. Ask God to reveal any offenses that you may have unknowingly committed. Everyone has habits that someone else finds to be annoying. No one is perfect. Often times people do get frustrated with family or friends, but we love them anyway. Secondly, I would ask God to give you wisdom in this relationship. I would then go to my friend and ask him/her if they are indeed upset with me, becuase you have not spoken to me for awhile and I have been concerned. I would ask them if I have treated them in any offensive way.
