Blaming God
Asked by: cytto mathe on October 9, 2007 at 12:47PM EST

i happen to have this friend, a very good friend of mine, infact my bestfriend. lately she has been feeling as though all the bad stuff going on in her life is infact God punishing her for all the mistakes she has ever made. she is a christian and does love the Lord.she had a pretty rough childhood, i mean, being raised by a single mom and having to find out who you dad is later on in life.

how would you help such a person.it kills me to see her this way, and i know God is not punishing her, but how do i get that into her head, how do i get her to see that.

Pray with and for her. Ask God to give your friend revelation from His perspective. Ask Him to give you revelation as to what you should do. Ask God for confirmation through His word as well. It sounds like she needs to hear from God as what is going on. Ask God to give her discernment and truth. When we go through life, our feelings do not always tell us the truth and that is a chance for the enemy to creep in with lies. God forbid! She needs to hear from God. She needs to run to Him and not away from God!

Great advice from Kenidra but also give some encouragement through cards (they should have some good ones at your Christian bookstore), books, watch some uplifting movies and just be their for her to tell you her feelings. Sometimes just listening without offering advice or trying to fix things is all people need. They'll feel less alone and that someone understands.

BTW, if life were fair, horses would get to ride half the time too!

Anyway, God Bless and I'll keep you and her in my prayers!

I am sorry that your friend is having such a hard time in her young life. The one thing I have learned is that our Loving Father does let things happing in our lives not to punish us but to help us to grow stronger in our faith in him. He wants us to trust in him alone and he never said the storm would not come but for those who keep the faith they would ride out the storm. My prayers are with you and your friend who is a very blessed lady to have you in her life. S. Boyd

One more thing I wanted to add have her read the story of JOB and I also recommend a book I am now reading. It is titled The GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOB. Written by Mike Mason. I am telling you this book puts a lot of things in perspective. If you can get one buy it ,its worth checking out. S. Boyd

One thing that you should tell your friend is that the challanges that she is facing now is God preparing her for something big, and he would never give us something that he knew we wouldnt be able to handle. For example my life has been anything but perfect a lot of things have gone wrong in my life that i couldnt stop, but now that these things have happened they have made me be able to relate and sympatize with people better
~ Ill keep praying for you and your friend and that God conveys his wisdom through you so that you can help you friend come back to her father
