Author (and active myCCM member) Tricia Goyer is hosting a video trailer contest to promote her new teen nonfiction book My Life, Unscripted
(Thomas Nelson). You could win some fabulous prizes. Rules here.
Using the metaphor of screenwriting, My Life, Unscripted explores relationships in every teenage girl's life-with herself, her friends and enemies, her parents, guys, and with God.
Real-life scripts, screenwriting terms, and timely topics, make this
an interesting read for teen girls as they delve into their own inner
struggles and outward relationships. They'll also learn the importance
of "scripting" their own responses BEFORE challenging life-situations
arise, so they are able to think about, pray about, and consider how to
face these situations before the scene begins. By contrasting real-life
with TV or movies, teens discover they don't have to get caught up in
the drama.
We're giving away two Let It Snow, Baby...Let It Reindeer prize packs on Friday. The winners will receive the new Christmas CD, stickers and a poster.
On Friday we'll post a bulletin about this giveaway here on myCCM. The first two people to respond with their name and address will win the prize pack.
Thanks for being our peep and supporting our music. Watch for a myCCM bulletin from us on Friday!
For YOUR chance to get in on the fun, be sure to click here and add Relient K to your peeps now!

How
would you like to appear in print? How would you like free exposure in
front of thousands of Christian music fans? Then you need to be
included in CCM Magazine's first-ever “The myCCM 100.”
In the special Nov/Dec edition of CCM magazine, we are naming the 100 most notable profiles on myCCM.org. With more than 9,000 members to choose from -- including more than 1,500 musician profiles -- you need all the help you can get to be noticed!
HOW TO GUARANTEE A SPOT ON “THE MYCCM 100”
1) On a computer with an Internet connection (uh-huh), log into your myCCM account.
2) Between now and September 20, 2007, click “Invite friends” (found on the left of your dashboard).
3)Create an invitation or invitations for one or more fans, friends, and family members. You can send your entire email list in one single invitation.
(NOTE: These are invitations for people who are OUTSIDE myCCM. This is not the same as making "peeps" requests.)
On September 21, 10 a.m. CST, the 10 bands/artists with the MOST accepted invitations are guaranteed a slot on “The myCCM 100.”
BONUS: We are also holding an eleventh slot -- where we will randomly choose one participating artist to also get onto the list. So even if you do not have the most fans, you still get one chance for every invitation sent. If 10 people accept, you get 10 chances -- if 100 accept, you get 100 chances. (And so on.)
NOTE: For the system to give you credit, the person needs to accept through the link in your invite email. If they join myCCM through any other links or avenues, the “Invite” system will not recognize them as the same person you invited.
On Friday, September 21, 2007, at 10 a.m. CST, the myCCM staff will pick its 11 guaranteed musicians/bands for our first “The myCCM 100.” You can read the results in the special edition Nov/Dec issue of CCM magazine!
NOTE ABOUT ELIGIBILITY:
1) You need a profile on myCCM.org (seriously)
2) The profile needs a picture
3) The profile needs some of your music
4) Your profile needs a minimum of 300 peeps

Official press release:
BET Networks is producing a new show that will search the country to find the best and most inspiring gospel singers for the launch of, "Sunday Best: The Search for America's Next Great Gospel Star!"
Many stars, from Patti Labelle to Mariah Carey, began their careers singing gospel hymns in church. Across America this Sunday, wherever gospel is sung п future superstars are belting out the blessed word. "Sunday Best" aims to find them -- and help them share their gift with the world.
Gospel music transcends all colors, backgrounds, socio-economic classes and musical styles. Its influences are present in Blues, Rock and Roll, Country, R & B, and many more genres. Some of the most successful artists today credit gospel music or singing in the church choir as being a huge inspiration in their lives and music careers.
Building off of American Idol's immense popularity Sunday Best will aim to reach the masses. We will not only showcase traditional gospel, but expand to include contemporary, Christian rock, Christian rap, and praise and worship music as well.
The final contestants will have a complete makeover done to their church, get a record deal and cash prizes.

Given the impending release of the final Harry Potter book, today's Washington Postreports on the explosive growth of Christian fantasy:
Christian fantasy, which had been a slow seller, has caught fire
recently, industry analysts say, ignited by the success of the Potter
series, which has sent some Christian readers looking for alternatives. Secular
and Christian publishers are churning out titles aimed at the lucrative
and growing audience of readers, who are snapping up an estimated $2.4
billion in Christian books a year -- about a 30 percent increase in the
past four years.
Of course, the paper continues, the growth in Christian fantasy is actually part of the overall growth in Christian fiction:
The growth in Christian fantasy books is part of the recent escalation in sales of Christian fiction. Stirred by the success of the apocalypse-themed Left Behind series, publishers are producing works of Christian suspense, thrillers, sci-fi, romance, horror (the devil is a prominent figure), mystery and -- the latest trend -- "chick lit."
"Fiction has probably been the strongest category within the Christian book explosion," said Jana Riess, religion reviews editor for Publishers Weekly. "It's definitely leading the way."
