Stacie Orrico: A new direction
Posted by: Mystery Writer CHRIS WELL on August 22, 2006 at 4:23PM EST
U.K. site UnitedByOne catches up with Stacie Orrico:

“Stacie Orrico made her music industry debut at 12 and recorded her hit album “Genuine” which went Gold in the Christian music market. Promptly signed by Virgin a couple of years later, she was transformed into the latest Pop princess with two massive hits “(There’s Gotta Be) More To Life” and “Stuck” off the back of a successful 3.4 million selling album.

The pressures and demands of the music industry at such a young age had a detrimental effect on the young teenager which saw her deal with a run of personal problems including an eating disorder. At such a low state, there was no other option but to totally withdraw from the music industry.

During that two year period she settled back into ‘normal’ family life and even ended up getting a job at a local seafood diner earning $7.50 an hour. Eventually moving to LA to be with her sister, her musical taste buds were ignited where she started songwriting and embarked on recording her soon-to-be released album “Beautiful Awakening”.

Stacie recently flew into London for an exclusive Virgin Records showcase. Backed by two acoustic guitarists, Stacie showed a new side to her musical repertoire by jumping on the piano and adding to the evening’s unplugged flavour.

DJ El Niño sat down with the songstress to talk about her new founded direction in life and of course the new album! ”
