"Living Life With The Support Of The Original Superman"
July 7, 1961. My mom thought she had gas. It was me. I think she was glad that it was me moving and not breakfast. I've been moving around ever since. Sometimes I move around Belle's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Sometimes I move around Louisa Middle School. Once each year I get to move around my home, Walt Disney World. At this point it looks likes the next time I will get to visit home is December, 2008. We were last there from September 27th through October 4th, 2007.
In the 46 years I've been moving around I have done a number of different things. I have pumped gas (remember when gas station attendants actually pumped your gas?), carried groceries, managed a grocery store, worked in radio as an announcer, sold radio advertising, taught at an alternative high school, played drums in a loud, obnoxious rock band, played drums in a loud listenable rock band, played drums in several country bands, played drums and sang in a touring Southern Gospel group with a few songs on the Singing News Charts and, currently, teaching middle school science at Louisa Middle School.
I was born a rocker. If the Contemporary Christian community that currently exists had existed my entire life, I'm sure my life would have been vastly different. I was save in 1971 and then proceeded to be a massively disappointing Christian. I have spent the last 36 years trying to become more Christ-like and a support for young Christians who feel that they've disappointed God. I'm just so glad that God is patient, forgiving and faithful to His promises. I'm doing my best to be the same.
I was saved in the November, 1971. My mother and I were attending a revival at Cherryville Missionary Baptist Church. On a Tuesday night, I felt the call of the Lord and went home, having made no move to accept Him. On the way home that night I told my mom that I had really messed up, that God had called me and I walked away. I made a promise to her, myself and Him that if I made it back to church the next night I would go forward during the invitation. I did just that. That Sunday I was baptized at the forks of the creek near the church. I was so cold that when I came out of the water fog was rising off my body. Since that day I have worked to become a better servant for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
