At the age of 12, Mark’s interest in music and guitar was sparked by his uncle when he gave him the opportunity to pick up one of his own 6 strings and “give it a whirl” while he laid down some beats on the drums in his bands practice room. “That was the moment for me. Don showed me a few things, laid down some drums and that was it. I knew I wanted to learn to play the guitar”, exclaimed Mark. He ended up buying one of his uncles’ guitars and started to learn to play.
When Mark was in high school he found some friends that shared the same interests and formed a band. “We spent a lot of good times at my drummer’s house practicing on weekends. But those good times of practicing and playing out could only last so long with all of our lives leading us in different directions. I am so grateful for those experiences and the friendships”, exclaimed Mark.
In 1991, Mark met his wife, Stacey, and married her in 1993. “She has been such a loving partner and mother to our four children”, he explained. “She is my rock second only to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who has came into my life, calmed my soul, and has given me the joy of writing music for Him.”
Mark’s hope is that people will be blessed by the music that he writes and feels that the Lord has given Him a gift that should be used to further God’s kingdom.
