Hailing from Burke, VA, Aubrey “Hairstona” Hairston delivers an unprecedented style of Christian music. Within six years of honing his skills in the New York City music scene, the artist had assembled his own band, played major venues such as the legendary Knitting Factory, and created enough of a stir to be shopped to several major labels in the country. It was around the same time Hairstona switched gears and began pursuing Christian music, a new direction prompted by a desire to write about something that changes his life daily.

An accomplished pianist, Hairstona developed a love for exploring Christian music after winning the regional oratorical award for his church in high school. His work balances a mix of R&B, Pop, Christian Contemporary, and Gospel, all of which reflect his assorted environment. Now as a worship leader for Brooklyn’s Church! of Park Slope, his writing/recording sessions are motivated even more by variety. With a diverse congregation, and six-piece praise band—the members of which come from all corners of the U.S.—a wealth of different styles come together each service that inspire Hairstona to try new things. With his latest collection of songs, new things are exactly what he aims to lay on the table. With the eclectic styles and varying tones that make up “Phenomenon’s Goin’ On,” Hairstona’s self-produced EP, Hairstona hopes to strengthen his walk and grow closer to God as well as inspire those who listen. Looking ahead, Hairstona aims to bring God glory, help people worship, and learn as much as he can as to how the Lord wants us to live.
