"From it's inception behind prison walls, God has been using Gospel One to deliver a message of hope "

More than a singing group, Art & Zylphia McAllister with Gospel One, stand true to the calling of their ministry. They are committed to ongoing outreach ministry in prisons, juvenile centers, rehabs and homeless shelters as well as churches and special events.
Themselves having been set free from lifestyles of drug addiction, incarceration and backward living, God has blessed Art and Zylphia with songs and melodies that have an anointing to exhort and inspire all those who listen to a closer walk with Jesus. Their music appeals to all ages, races and nationalities.
Its not that we change our music to accommodate everyone, says Art, It just seems that we have been blessed with a gift to write songs that touch people right where they are. We never lose sight of the fact of where God has brought us from and that there's always someone else who needs to hear that God is a very present help and available to do the same things for them. People are just people wherever you go, whatever race or color, we all experience and need the same things and the gospel is the one thing everybody needs.
Art, the godson of famed jazz trumpeter, Louis Armstrong, has a background in music that includes 4 years as a staff songwriter for EMI Music, and stints as music director and keyboardist for former "Tower of Power" lead vocalist, Lenny Williams and also for Michael Jackson's oldest sister "Rebbie". Several of his songs have charted as singles and title cuts for both artists.
Since having been "Born Again" in February 1996, miraculously delivered and set free by the same power that raised Jesus from the grave, Art set free from a lifestyle that included 6 years of drugs, homelessness and incarceration, has committed his musical skills and ability to the spreading of the Gospel Of Jesus Christ through psalmistry, speaking and preaching. Gospel One began while Art was an inmate on a California State prison One Yard, hence the name Gospel One. He says, Those songs, which are now the No Easy Road CD, were the first songs I ever wrote for the Lord. From that point I knew psalmistry was something I was born to do."God saved me and I know, if God did it for me", he says, "God will do it for anyone". God's love has been shown toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Jesus died that we all might be saved.
Zylphia McAllister, Art's wife, has been serving Jesus since 1984, having been called to minister the Word of the Lord while in a jail cell, she promised Him she would however, upon her release she failed to keep her vow and found herself once again, in the very same cell. This time when the Lord called her to the ministry again, she kept her promise and God delivered her from the turmoil of an abusive childhood, broken home, drugs, alcohol, homelessness and a life of reckless living. Now an ordained evangelist, she has since served the Lord in various offices at several churches in and around the Los Angeles area as a Director of music a department, praise and worship leader, choir director, teacher, youth leader, events organizer and pastor, and evangelist. Zylphia has witnessed the miracle working power of God in the lives of those the Lord has directed her to minister to and in her own life as well. Signs and wonders accompany the ministry God has given her and she firmly believes that Miracles are for today. To God be All the Glory!
Colton Bryant has a similar background that include testimonies of deliverance from drugs, prison and divine healing. Art met Colton Bryant, who had also been recently released from prison, while a resident at a prison work furlough program. They sang in a choir together at Calvary Baptist in Pacoima, where they were members. In 1998 when Art recorded No Easy Road and re-formed Gospel One, Colton was among the 1st to join and has been faithfully with the ministry ever since.
Although their music ministry keeps them very busy traveling throughout the Southern California area where they are based, Art and Zylphia keep first things first as parise and worship leaders for Lifeline International Christian Fellowship Glendale / Pasadena. There they are under the leadership of Pastor Mabuwa and Angelique Kintaudi and founders Dr Vernon and Margareth Falls.
Gospel One's goal is simple, to deliver "a message to set the captives free" Isaiah.61:1, to inspire and challenge men and women from all walks of life to take their rightful places in their homes, communities and places of worship by faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

"We believe God has given us special music for His purposes; to magnify His Name, help people and destroy the works of the devil." "We know and believe that it's the anointing that destroys the yoke and will not bow to anything that will compromise it. After all without the anointing, we're just another group, but with it, we know and believe God will heal and set people free.
