I need to find some christian emo music for someone. I'm not sure exactly what it is. Does anybody out there know of any bands? even if you know of any secular bands...then that would probably help me know what type of sound to look for.

Check out The Violet Burning. They've been around a while and have quite a bit of music out there.

Is The Violet Burning Emo? I actually did an album review of them one time.

Emery, Underoath, And Then There were None, Showbread, Wavorly, The Wedding, Norma Jean, Oh Sleeper, Further Seems Forever, mewithoutyou, Before Their Eyes, and many more things on tooth and nail and such.

Probably the most emo of those would be Emery and Underoath. the others are bands that people who like emo music would probably listen to even if that's not their exact genre.

I thought Underoath, Oh Sleeper & Norma Jean was hardcore...w/ some of those being more metalcore possibly. It sounds to me like some of the pop punk sounding bands are classified as emo, but I guess the difference must be that it's a little bit slower maybe? I say that bc some people have mentioned The Wedding, Run Kid Run, & bands like those.

I guess it really depends upon how strict of a genre you're going for. I've always heard Underoath classified as "Emocore", haha.
Now that I think about it, there are a lot of emo bands that have broken up already =/ Watashi Wa, Waking Ashland, Dead Poetic, Subseven, and like I said, Further Seems Forever.
I did forget to mention Secret and Whisper. Many of my friends say they're emo.

Hmmm... "emo christian" would be hard to find. Copeland is good, but I don't think "Christian" in terms of lyrics and such, but they are clean lyrics. Mainstay and Telecast would be Christian, but they would be "emo-light" so to speak. Mourning September is pretty good... as is Holland...

I'd also check tooth and nail's discography, they have released the most christian emo I've run into.
