"...that's Maria for ya."
Hello. I am Maria. I go to Ohio University so I'm in Athens, Ohio sometimes and Canton the rest of the time because that's where I'm from. I am studying to be a journalist, hopefully a Christian journalist. I think that words can sometimes paint better pictures than pictures can, and I think that music is unifying. I play the guitar and the piano and the flute and I sing, and I played the trumpet once in fourth grade and I bet I could play a pretty mean kazoo if you gave me one. I like to record stuff and to play around in coffee houses and churches. I think it's ridiculous when people try to argue that God doesn't exist, because I think that He is more real than anything we can see or touch every day. Sometimes I feel like I am running with my eyes closed, but I know He has a plan for me - and a sense of humor. I have an unwavering suspicion that everyday life teaches lessons if you listen so I'm going to do my best to keep my ears open for the sake of this blog...and myself.

I grew up in a devout Catholic family, and they still are and I love them. When I was 16 I started going to a protestant church with my best friend Meghann and I cried the first time I heard her choir sing. I had never understood that Jesus was pushing for more than Sunday mornings. After a few months of reading and trying and lots of pen ink and empty diet sunkists, I told Meghann that I didn't think I was good enough yet to be "saved". Meghann told me that that meant I was completely ready. From there on out, it's been Jesus and I against the world.
