I remember rushing into the store and buying Jennifer Knapp's cd titled, "The Way I Am". Eagerly opening the wrapping and carefully placing the cd into my cd player, I listened to it on repeat for hours while in the car. I dreamed of being able to sing and play songs as real as she did. Words that were full of meaning, value, hope, and freedom. Although Jennifer Knapp has been absent from the music scene a few years, she still lives on through all the girls she has inspired to pick up a guitar and learn to express her self through music.
As a 19 year old college student, I have wrote around 22 songs to date, all laced with invigorating feelings, expressive language, and diverse styles. I taught myself guitar and wrote my first song called, "Homesick". I don't seek fame or fortune through my music. I just want to let
someone know there's hope in Jesus, even if that
someone is me. So I am using my talents to the best of my ability for my Lord and Savior. I am many things. Daughter, friend, student, writer, and singer. One thing makes all these things worth while, though.
I am loved. Unconditionally by my Savior.
This is who I am instead.
To express their feelings, some people write in diaries, punch walls, or build little ships in glass bottles... but I write songs and sing it like I mean it. :)
