a matter of FAITH is an independent Rock group based in Fort Myers Florida. Our material is a blend of classic and new/alternative original guitar based rock that is well written and intensely performed. Comparisons have been made to Creed, Third Day, STP, Mercy Me and Pearl Jam. We are a positive message band yet manage to cross over to most audiences with a wide demographic appeal – ages 14 to 50.
Please don’t be fooled into thinking that a matter of FAITH is another preachy praise and worship band setting out to save lost souls. Our music does have a message we are compelled to share, but it also definitely rocks. We deal with darker real world topics too. Check out “Rock Man”. The message is well written and delivered through exciting music that hits home with many people and is well presented and performed.
a matter of FAITH has performed at all types of venues for many different types of audiences. We have performed with national touring recording artists and played at festivals, night clubs, bars, special events and churches.
Our performances are always powerful, thought provoking and entertaining. We don’t make major changes in our material or show based on the venue or audience and always find acceptance and appreciation. Some comments regarding our live performances, at concerts, entertainment venues and churches have been: “these guys are the real deal”; “Wow! We didn’t expect that out of them”; “you guys really ROCKED!”... We are starting to generate some good buzz both on the local scene and on MySpace.
The band is comprised of five members. Three of which are long time friends and band mates, John Abby, Pete Eckenrode and Pat Flanigan who started playing together back in the 80s. With the addition of singer/song writer Tim Byrne and most recently drummer Phil Provost we have focused our message and found our voice.
A little bit of the back-story: The original band members, after opening a show headlining Alice Cooper, were offered a contract with a major record label in 1980, but with young families at home, we chose not to take it. The band eventually disbanded and then reformed in 1997 playing covers in bars for fun and as a creative outlet. After a year or so we realized that wasn’t the reason we were drawn back together. So we started writing and recording our own positive message/Christian based music. We have also helped numerous like minded local bands record their own original material along the way. Fast forward to the present, we recently released “peace” a nine cut all original CD. a matter of FAITH is a band on the rise, with a wide appeal.
