Lavel’s Five CD’s are a reflection of the transforming power found in Jesus Christ as we believe and trust in Him as our Lord and Savoir. Lavel, a native of Saginaw, Michigan, received his call to ‘sing for Jesus 7 years ago. He says that ‘he had a dream that he sang to Jesus and He was pleased”. He knew from that dream that Jesus wanted him to use his gift of song to reach His people. Lavel feels that Jesus wants him to keep doing the style of music that he was doing prior to being saved (R&B and Hip Hop); however, a crucial change would need to be made in his lyrical style. Instead of writing about things of the world, Lavel would now begin writing about the goodness of God.
Lavel’s musical career started at a young age when he began singing in the Children’s Choir at church and from there he went on to sing as part of his high school’s Soul Choir. He became an accomplished artist, giving his talents to the world, prior to being called back by God in 1999.
All Five of Lavel’s CD’s are contemporary gospel CD’s’ written, produced, and sung by Lavel. The CD’s are a reflection of the metamorphosis that Lavel has gone through in his life with Christ over the past 7 years. Lavel’s “change” began as he confessed Jesus as his Lord and Savior. As Christ began working in Lavel’s heart, Lavel began to have a desire to begin to change his entire lifestyle, including his music, to glorify the Lord.
Although his style is more contemporary, Lavel believes that his music will catch the hearts of both the young and the old. It’s a style that is unmatched in the Christian music industry today, drawing people from all lifestyles.
Lavel’s desire for his music is that it will bring “praises to the street”. He sees it as music of hope, of change, of praise & of love. He prays that he will help revolutionize praise beyond the traditional and bring the joy of Christ to people’s heart through singing & dancing daily. He prays that one day every radio station would open its doors to play Praise & Worship music allowing him and other Christian artists the opportunity to share the hope of Christ to the world daily.
