Hello brothers and sisters in Christ! My name is David Payne and I have been a musician since the age of thirteen. I have played all different styles of music, but my main influences have been in the blues genre. Until August of 2006, my music lacked direction. I was focused on playing for money in bars and nightclubs. I found the lifestyle empty and all it did was contribute to my addiction to alcohol. By the Grace of God, I was saved and began a clean and sober life dedicated to living my life in the glorious light of God's mercy. I found a new direction for my music, which was to inspire and share the word of God with those who had not yet come to know Christ as thier Lord and Savior. I played with a local contemperary Christian group for almost a year until difficulties among the members pulled the group apart. Since the breakup, a couple of close friends and I have formed another group called " Cornerstone". Right now we are at a stand-still due to time constraints on some of the members, but we hope to pick up where we left off in the near future. I continue to paly at church and work on my own as an independant musician in my home studio. My main focus is on instrumental worship and all of my music is written to bring the listener into a deep state of relaxation and worship. I want my music to channel the Holy Spirit and allow the listener to focus on God and his word. All of the insrumentation is done by me utilizing a programable drum machine, bass guitar, six string guitar, keyboard, harmonica, mandolin, and any other instrument I can get my hands on. Everything I play is recorded onto a four track recorder and then transfered to compact disc. Just recentley, I have started utilizing my PC to do final mixdowns of my music which has really improved the sound quality. I hope my music can inspire others to expand on thier God given talents. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful God who showers us with his love and blessings each day. I want my music to reflect that love and inspire all who listen to it to seek the Lord openly and with their whole being.

As a musician, I feel it is important to convey emotion in my music. Sometimes I feel people put too much effort into cleaning up a track and making it fit a certain standard of clarity and perfection. My music is who I am and what I feel at the time it is recorded. Sometimes it comes out raw and gritty and other times it is peaceful and light. One way or the other, I try to stay true to my heart and express what I feel through my music. Anything less would be an insult to the gift God has so gratiously blessed me with. What you hear in my music is me, un-polished and un-bridled. I believe that as my music progresses, God will shape and mold me into the musician he wants me to be, so long as I stay true to His word, His plan, and play from my heart.
